Solid Pipeline Pig

Pipeline hydrotest pressure equipment lets crews prove a new or repaired line before it carries product. EMT supplies a complete hydrostatic test spread: weld-on test heads, high-pressure hydro test pumps, temporary pig traps, and dewatering pigs. The package fills, gauges, pressurizes, holds, and dewaters lines for oil, gas, water, and petrochemical service. It fits pipe from 2 to 60 inch and reaches test pressures up to 15,000 psi. We build and pressure-test every test head under our ASME U Stamp quality system. Crews pressurize to 1.25-1.5 times MAOP per ASME B31.4 and B31.8, then hold to confirm strength and leak-tightness. Digital chart recorders and dead-weight testers log the full pipeline hydrotest pressure curve for the client record.

Description

What Is Pipeline Hydrotest Equipment?

Pipeline hydrotest equipment is the engineered package that verifies a welded line with a pressurized water fill before it carries hydrocarbon or water. EMT assembles hydrostatic test pump units, test heads, and recording instruments into a single mobilizable spread. Operators deploy the kit to flood, gauge, pressurize, hold, and dry new and repaired pipelines. It serves crude, gas, water, and chemical lines onshore and offshore. During pre-commissioning, the equipment confirms wall strength and reveals joint leaks before start-up. A test head closes each open end and receives the fill and pressure connections. A high-pressure pump then raises the line to the required test pressure. The same kit supports re-test after tie-in welds and field repairs. EMT frames the package around your line size, design pressure, and applicable code.

What Are the Key Parameters?

We configure each hydrotest package to line diameter, design pressure, and project code. Our standard envelope covers 2 to 60 inch lines and test heads rated to 15,000 psi, while pumps reach 20,000 psi (1,400 bar). Test heads come in weld-on, clamp-on, and flanged styles to suit any pipe end. Pumps run on electric, diesel, or pneumatic drive to match site power. Flow spans 5 to 445 LPM so fill and pressurization stay fast on long cross-country sections. Wetted parts use carbon steel bodies with 316L stainless trim for corrosion resistance. Every order ships with a material certificate and factory test report. Share your pipe ID, MAOP, and code, and we confirm the build. Drawings follow your standard so heads weld on without rework. Calibrated gauges, dead-weight testers, and chart recorders ship as one kit.

How Does It Work ?

This set of equipment mainly consists of a high-pressure test pump, pressure control valve, pressure gauge, buffer tank, connecting pipeline and data recording module. Clean water is injected into the closed pipeline section continuously by the high-pressure pump. The system gradually raises internal pressure to the specified test pressure (generally 1.25–1.5 times the pipeline maximum working pressure) under stable control. After reaching the required pressure, the equipment keeps the pressure constant for a prescribed holding period. Technicians observe pressure fluctuations and check all pipeline joints, welds and fittings for water seepage or dripping. If the pressure remains stable without obvious drop and no leakage occurs, the pipeline strength and tightness are qualified. If pressure declines remarkably, it indicates defects such as welding cracks, pinholes or loose sealing exist. After the test finishes, water inside the pipeline is drained completely. The whole pressurization, pressure maintaining and pressure relief process can be automatically recorded to form official test reports.

Why Choose This Test?

Professional pipeline hydrotest equipment is essential for oil and gas pipeline projects in accordance with ASME, API and ISO standards. It applies hydraulic pressure to check pipeline structural strength and sealing performance, discovering hidden welding cracks, tiny leaks and other undetected defects to prevent pipe rupture, medium leakage and safety accidents during operation. Hydrostatic testing with water is much safer than air pressure testing; qualified test records and certificates are mandatory for project acceptance and export clearance. By troubleshooting faults before pipelines are put into use, this equipment avoids expensive shutdown, excavation and environmental remediation costs brought by later failures, safeguards staff and asset safety, and provides complete documentation for long-term pipeline integrity management.

Who Is EMT and Why Trust Us?

EMT designs and builds pipeline pressure-test and pigging equipment at our Shenyang works, holding the ASME U Stamp for certified pressure-vessel production. In-house CNC centers, robotic welding cells, and a dedicated hydrotest bay govern quality at every stage. We pressure-test each test head and issue a certificate with the order for full traceability. Pipeline operators, EPC contractors, and maintenance teams in 30-plus countries run our equipment. We work around tight commissioning windows and offer expedited delivery when schedules are critical. Our engineers answer in English, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese within four working hours. Beyond hydrotest gear, we supply QOC quick-opening closures, corrosion monitoring systems, chemical injection quills, and pipeline cleaning pigs. We deliver turnkey pre-commissioning solutions from design through commissioning. As a single-source supplier, we cover the full scope under one quality standard.
