ER Corrosion Probe
The high-precision ER probe is a retrievable, high-sensitivity corrosion probe suitable for various corrosion monitoring systems. The fully welded sensing element construction allows the probe to be used in various harsh and demanding environments.
The probe assembly includes the probe body containing the monitoring elements. For low-pressure applications, it seals radially when connected to a packing gland. For high-pressure applications, the user tightens the threaded connection seat by turning it leftwards when connecting it to a hollow insertion body. Fusion welding joins all components to create a complete seal. An optional flow velocity protection cap protects the probe measurement element section.
In high-pressure installations, the probe connection seat connects to the hollow insertion body, allowing installation and removal under pressure. Consequently, this permits probe installation and retrieval using specialized tools without disrupting production.
A precision electrical resistance (ER) corrosion probe is a high-precision sensor used for monitoring corrosion rate. Its principle is based on the phenomenon where the cross-sectional area of a metal specimen decreases due to corrosion, causing an increase in its electrical resistance. Specifically, the probe contains one or more metal elements (specimens) placed in the corrosive medium. Measuring the change in precision resistance of these metal elements and comparing it with a reference resistor sealed inside the probe allows the system to determine the extent of corrosion. The probe offers elements in various forms—cylindrical, flat, ring-shaped, or wire-shaped—with the cylindrical and flat types dominating industrial field applications.
