Working Principle
Based on measuring corrosion coupon loss of metal, the system calculates corrosion loss rate by measuring changes of AC signals caused by the thickness reduction of corrosion sample. It is an effective method to monitor the corrosion of the device indirectly. The measurement element installed in the tubular alters the AC signal when corrosion reduces its cross-sectional area. We can calculate the amount of reduction and the corrosion rate based on the changes in the AC signal applied to the testing sample. When the material of the testing sample and the erosion conditions caused by the medium are similar to those of the device being monitored, we can consider the corrosion rate of the device to be comparable to that of the testing sample.
Inductance probe monitoring technology is an emerging corrosion on line measuring technology since 2000 and has been successfully applied widely in China mainland. The system features high sensitivity, quick response, high anti-interference performance, and broad applicability, etc. Under the same principle, testing sample can be fabricated into different shapes for various applications. Usually the measurement resolution ratio of inductive probe is 30nm, assuming the corrosion rate is 0.254mm/a, the system can identify the amount of corrosion reduction of one hour. General age (Max. loss) of the system is 0.25mm

Main Features of the Inductance Probe
Indirect corrosion measurement:
The system indirectly reflects the pipeline corrosion rate caused by the medium by calculating the corrosion rate of the testing sample. It does this by measuring the accumulated thickness reduction caused by corrosion over a period of time.
Independent of the corrosion coupon system:
Operators can use the corrosion monitoring system to measure corrosion in both liquid and gaseous environments. It applies to both electrolyte and non-electrolyte corrosion systems.
It is a comparatively universal online corrosion monitoring method with strong anti-interfence capability by applying AC signals as measuring signals.
Tubular detector and probe body are welded into one piece and infilled with high temperature cured adhesive thus possesses stronger resistance to pitting corrosion, erosion, and pressure than ER probe.
Temperature compensatory testing sample is wrapped in and be in the same level with the testing sample, therefore the testing result has little affection by temperature.
